NMJC Track and Field Hires New Coach Tabarie Henry

The NMJC Track and Field Program is excited to announce the hiring of Coach Tabarie Henry. Coach Henry will be in charge of coaching the sprints and hurdles at NMJC.  

Coach Henry is a former NCAA champion and two-time Olympian, he has a long and storied track career, which includes competing for the U.S. Virgin Islands in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, reaching the 400M semifinals at both games. He placed fourth in the event at the 2009 IAAF World Championship in Berlin, Germany, and followed up with a seventh place finish at the 2011 IAAF World Championship in Daegu, South Korea. He was ranked as one of the top 15 400M runners in the world from 2008-2012.

While a student-athlete at Texas A&M University, Henry was a back-to-back national champion (2010, 2011) and the 2011 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field champion in the 600-yard run and 4x400M.

He most recently coached at Hawkeye Community College in Iowa.  Before Hawkeye, Coach Henry coached at the Peak Performance Training Center, the Shed Performance Center, and Cedar Park High School, all in Austin, Texas. He also has coaching and training experience from Texas A&M University and the University of Alabama.

He is a 2012 graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in agriculture leadership and development and a minor in sports management. He earned an associate degree from Barton County Community College in 2010.
