Ranger upends T-Birds

The New Mexico Junior College baseball team lost a neutral site game against Ranger College Sunday, falling 10-2 to the Rangers. NMJC trailed 10-0 before scoring its only two runs of the game in the top of the eighth inning.

 

Angel Delacruz, Daniel Hernandez, and Rody Barker were the only T-Birds with hits. Adrian Torres, Soterio Ramirez, Delacruz, Joab Gonazlez, and Zac Vooletich also reached base, doing so via the free pass. Barker and Torres each scored with Hernandez collecting the two RBI on a double.

 

Brayan Garcia started the game and took the loss. He went four innings, allowing one run (a homer) on four hits and three walks. Garcia struck out eight. Tristan Stivors took over in the fifth and was charged with seven runs, though only five were earned, on five hits and four walks. He struck out six. Ty Stephenson closed out the game, recording the final four outs. He allowed two unearned runs on one hit while striking out one.

 

The T-Birds fall to 2-3 on the season. Next up for NMJC is a game against Trinidad State on Saturday in Albuquerque followed by games against Garden City and Lamar community colleges on Sunday.
