
Badgers Snap T-Birds 6-Game Winning Streak
NMJC baseball split the Friday series with Amarillo College.
Game 1
Amarillo College snapped the T-Birds 6-game winning streak Friday afternoon in a 6-3 win.
Lachlan Maude's RBI double in the first inning put the T-Birds in front 2-0. NMJC added a third run in the top of the second after Casen Savage scored on a passed ball.
The Badgers shut out the Thunderbirds offensively the rest of the game scoring a run in the third, four in the fourth inning, and one more run in the sixth to grab a come-from-behind 6-3 victory over NMJC.
Third baseman Jeter Battles went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Second baseman Omar Reluz was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Catcher Lachlan Maude went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a walk.
Starting pitcher Dominick Maese threw 3.1 innings allowing four earned, four hits, and walking six. Brandon Stewart relieved Maese as he gave up one earned in 2.2 innings of work.
Game 2
The Thunderbirds split the Friday series with Amarillo College thanks to a pair of homers by DH Julius Ramirez that led NMJC to a 10-2 victory.
NMJC opened the scoring up with an RBI single in the second inning by Jeter Battles. Later in the inning, Ramirez hit a 3-run homer to push the lead to 4-0. Ramirez's second home run of the day came in the fifth inning to make the score 5-0.
An RBI double by Ramirez and an RBI double by Arroyos put NMJC ahead 7-0 in the seventh. Amarillo added their only two runs of the day in the bottom of the seventh.
In the top of the eight, Jeter Battles drove in a run on a fielder's choice. Jorge De Los Santos ended the onslaught with a double that scored two more runs and made it 10-2. The Badgers were unable to score, ending the game in a run rule.
DH Julius Ramirez went 4-for-4 with two homers, a double, a walk, three runs scored, and five RBIs. Third baseman Jeter Battles went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Catcher Jorge De Los Santos was 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. First baseman Lane Arroyos recorded a double, an RBI, and a walk.
Starting pitcher Ricardo Rojas struck out five, gave up six hits, and allowed no earned runs. Rojas earned his seventh win after lasting 6.2 innings. Santana Hernandez pitched 1.1 innings in relief allowing no runs and giving up three hits.
