T-Birds 2nd, Mustangs 9th

The New Mexico Junior College golf team finished its two-day, 36-hole play at the Cactus Thaw in El Paso Monday, taking home second place. The Thunderbirds shot a 568 and were 11 strokes back of Midland College, which won the tournament. University of the Southwest finished ninth as a team, turning in a team score of 623.

Magnus Lomholt led the T-Birds with a 138, finishing third overall, while Liam Duncan wasone stroke back in fourth with a 139 and Jacob Agerschou carded a 141 to finish fifth. Harry Carruthers shot a 153, placing in a tie for 38th while Stuart Thurlow's 155 had him in a tie for 43.

Playing as an individual, Hobbs graduate Tanner Cox shot a 164 to finish 64th.

University of the Southwest's top golfer was Boyd Kapalamoto who carded a 151 to finish tied for 27th. Robert Gallegos was tied for 43rd with a 155 while Jeremie Pastiney was tied for 54th with a 158. Aaron Robledo shot a 159 to finish tied for 56th and Justin Pastiney turned in a 165 to finish 65th.

Parker Sanders and Heiko Jeandupeux both played as individuals for USW. Sanders shot a 169 to finish 66th and Jeandupeux carded a 175 to finished 67th.
