Thunderbirs crushed by Western Texas

The New Mexico Junior Colege men's basketball team suffered another tough loss Saturday afternoon when the Thunderbirds fell to Western Texas 90-68 at the Caster Activity Center.

The Thunderbirds started out with a lead, going up by five points just 87 seconds into the game, but quickly lost it. Once the Thunderbirds fell behind, they trailed the rest of the night. At the end of the first half, NMJC trailed 51-28.

NMJC did its best to match Western Texas in the second half, outscoring with Westerners 40-39, but it wasn't enough.

Shawn Olden led the Thunderbirds with 17 points while coming in off the bench whiold Roosevelt Smart had 15 points. Makol Mawien chipped in 12 and Damontrez Hawes contributed 10 while also grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.

With the loss, NMJC falls to 9-4 on the season and 0-2 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.
