Guard Williams invited to NBA Draft Combine

The NBA wants to take a closer look at TCU's Kenrich Williams.

The star guard has been chosen as one of 69 players to receive an invitation to the NBA Draft Combine, which will be held in Chicago from May 16-20.

Williams finished his career in Fort Worth by amassing 1,125 points, which ranks 21st in school history, and 877 rebounds, which ranks fourth.

The Waco native averaged 13.2 points per game and was second in the Big 12 averaging 9.3 rebounds per game this season. Those numbers played a big part in him being named All-Big 12 Second Team, USBWA All-District VII and NABC All-District 8 Second Team.

He's seeking to become the first player from TCU drafted into the NBA since Lee Nailon in 1999.

Other in-state players to receive Combine invites include Texas center Mohamed Bamba, UTA's Kevin Hervey, SMU's Shake Melton, and Texas Tech's Zaire Smith.

There are only 60 draft spots available so not everyone of these players will get drafted. Those non-seniors who have yet to hire an agent will get feedback from teams and have 10 days after the event to either formally enter the draft or return to college.
