T-Birds fall to Clarendon

 

 


For the second time this season, the New Mexico Junior College men's basketball team has lost to Clarendon College. The most recent lost came on the road Monday night where the Thunderbirds fell 81-70.

 

The T-Birds trailed by three points, 30-27, at the end of the first half. During the second half, Clarendon pulled away, outscoring the T-Birds 51-43 over the final 20 minutes of play.

 

Gideon George led all scorers with a game-high 21 points. Darnell Rogers added 16 while Najja Hunter contributed 13. Deion Rhea had a double-double for NMJC, scoring in 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, all while coming in off the bench.

 

With the loss, NMJC falls to 19-8 on the season and 8-5 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, The T-Birds will host Frank Phillips on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Caster Activity Center.
