The New Mexico Junior College men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 64-56 win over Midland College Thursday night. The Thunderbirds were outscored 29-20 in the first half, but came back in the second half, turning the tables and outscoring the Chaparrals 44-27 in the second half.

 

Mohammad Jafari, played of the bench and led the T-Birds with 15 points. Dimitri Diara had 13 points while Gideon George finished with 12. Hobbs graduate Clay Strasner also scored in double figures, contributing 11 points for the T-Birds while Hall Elisias just missed double figures, thanks to a missed free throw, finishing with nine.

 

With the win, NMJC finished third in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with a 10-6 conference mark while going 21-9 overall. The T-Birds will be back in action on Thursday, March 7 at the Region V Tournament Abilene, Texas.
