T-Birds come up short

T-Birds come up short

The New Mexico Junior College men's basketball team lost to South Plains College Monday night, falling 61-53 on the road in Levelland, Texas.

The game was close in the first half, with NMJC trailing by just two points at the break. However, in the second half, South Plains outscored NMJC 37-31.

Mareng Gatkuoth led the T-Birds in scoring, finishing with 15 points. Terence Lewis had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while Antonio Bridy scored 13 points while playing off the bench.

With the loss, NMJC falls to 14-5 on the season and 4-1 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play. The T-Birds will be back in action on Thursday when they host Clarendon College in Caster Activity Center. Play is set to tip at 7:30 p.m.
