T-Birds defeat Frank Phillips College

The New Mexico Junior College men's basketball team defeated Western Junior College Athletic Conference opponent Frank Phillips College 88-83 Tuesday night on the road. The Thunderbirds improve to 21-8 overall and 11-4 in WJCAC, which see them hold onto the second spot in the conference. NMJC trail only Clarendon College and hold a game lead over South Plains College for second. NMJC will close its regular season at home in Caster Activity Center hosting Midland College Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

Terence Lewis led the team with a double double a game highs 29 points and 10 boards. Starters Gideon George had 17 points with five boards and Keaton Hervey had 11 points with five boards and three assists. Matthew Strange led the second unit with 12 points. Mareng Gatkuoth was held scoreless in 33 minutes but had 10 assists, four rebounds, and a block.
