T-Bird hoops fall to Bulldogs

The New Mexico Junior College men's basketball team came up short in its bid to make the NJCAA Region V Tournament championship as the Thunderbirds lost to Western Junior College Athletic Conference rival Clarendon College 76-67 Friday afternoon in Abilene.

The T-Birds had a rough first half, scoring just 25 points, and couldn't rebound from it. Clarendon College scored 35 points in the first half and NMJC trailed by 10 at the break. The T-Birds got their offense going in the second half, scoring 42 points, but the Bulldogs were just as successful, pouring in 41 points.

Every member of the T-Birds roster that played, scored. Terence Lewis re corded a double-double for the T-Birds as he led all scorers, finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Keaton Hervey chipped in 18 points while Gideon George scored 11.

Antonio Bridy and Matthew Stranger each had five points while Rafael Jenkins and Matt Treacy each finished with three points. Toug Dol had two points, both coming from the charity stripe while Joao Camargo also scored his only point from the line.

With the loss, NMJC ends its season at 23-10.
