NMJC’s Tee McLeod Wins the Men’s All Around Champion ENMU Rodeo

 

            Tee McLeod, sophomore, won the title Men's All Around Cowboy this past weekend competing in team roping, steer wrestling, and tie down roping at the first NIRA/SWR College Rodeo for the Fall 2018 season at Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, NM. Other NMJC Rodeo student/athletes making it back to the short round was Megan Powell in breakaway roping and Luke Sckopodole in team roping.

 

           Tee not only won the men's all-around title, but with his team roping partner Garrett Sommers (header) from Weatherford College, won the ENMU Team Roping title with the average time of 11.00 sec. on two head. They won the long go with the time of 5.2 sec. and placed second in the short go with the time of 5.8 sec.  In steer wrestling Tee finished fourth in the average with the time of 9.9 sec. on two head. He placed 6th in the long go with the time of 4.9 sec. and placed fifth in the short go with the time of 5.0 sec. in the short go.

 

 

 

          For the NMJC Women, Megan Powell was the only lady to make it back to the Saturday evening short go. Megan finished second in the average with the time of 4.6 sec. on two head, she won the long go with the fast time of 2.0 sec. and finished third in the short go with the time of 2.6 sec.

 

 

 

         Also making it back to the short go for the NMJC Men was Luke Sckopodole (header) and Cody Huwa from South Plains College. This team finished fourth in the average with the time 13.6 sec. on two head. They placed ninth in the average in the long go with the time of 8.5 sec. and won the short go with a fast time of 5.1 sec.

 

      

 

         NMJC Men's Team finished in third with 320 points, Tarleton State was second with 335 points and Clarendon was first with 345 points. The NMJC Women finished in fourth place scoring 150 points, NCTC third with 160 points, second was Weatherford with 270 points and Tarleton in first with 340 points.

 

 

 

           Up next for the NMJC Rodeo Teams will be this Thursday thru Saturday, September 27-29, 2018 at Sul Ross State University, in Alpine, TX.
