Rodeo Shows Up Big in Big Spring!!!

The NMJC T-birds rodeo team travelled to Big Spring, Tx for the Howard College rodeo this past weekend. The T-birds did a great job despite all the rain making bad arena conditions for Saturday morning and the short round Saturday night.

Sophomore Hunter Salter led the team by winning the rodeo in the bullriding. His 81 point effort on Thursday night was good enough for 2nd in the long round. He followed that up with a gritty 71 point effort in the short round totaling 152 points and the win of the rodeo.

Sophomore Maddy Haley finished the rodeo 6th in the goat tying. Her 9.9 second run was good enough to split 6th place in the long round. She followed that up with a 10.7 second run in the mud for a total of 20.6 on 2 and a 6th place average finish.

Freshman Casey Olson and his partner split 3rd place in the long round of the team roping with a 6.3 second run. Unfortunately they had a no time in the short round but held on to split 5th place in the average.

The T-birds have the weekend off but will be getting ready for the final Southwest Region rodeo April 25-27 at Tarleton State University  in Stephenville, TX to finish up their season.
