The New Mexicoo Junior College women's basketball team won its fifth straight game,beating Midland College on the road. The Lady Thunderbirds won 76-57. NMJC built up a 25-14 lead in the first quarter, but Midland kept it close in the second. Still, the Lady T-birds were ale to increase their lead by outscoring Midland 15-14. In the third quarter, the Lady T-birds had another big offensive explosion, dropping in 22 points while holding Midland to 12. Midland battled back in the fourth quarter, outscoring NMJC 17-14, but it was too little, too late.
The Lady Thunderbirds had four players score in double figures. Laurynn McGowen and Daiane Machado led the team with 15 points each, though McGowen did it while coming off the bench. Dezirae Hampton and Ni'Asia McIntosh each had 14 points. McIntosh was one rebound shy of a double-double.
With the win, NMJC improves to 15-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. The Lady T-birds will now head to Frank Phillips College on Thursday. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
