NMJC freshman named to All-FIBA Under 18 Team
Incoming New Mexico Junior College Lady TBird freshman Mayra Caicedo was named to the All-FIBA Americas Under-18 All-Star Team for 2018, following the FIBA U-18 Americas Women's Championship game in Mexico City August 1-7, 2018. FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, is the world governing body for basketball.
Caicedo is a Columbian native, playing for the national Columbia women's basketball team in the under-18 category. The team placed 4th at the tournament. The USA team placed first.
The 5'4" Caiceda was chosen to the First All-Star team as a point-guard, after averaging 16.5 points per game, with 4.7 assists.
She will play her first game as a NMJC Thunderbird November 1-3 during the Estacado Credit Union Thunderbird Classic at New Mexico Junior College.
