Lady T-Birds win on the Road

The New Mexico Junior College women's basketball team defeated Western Junior College Athletic Conference opponent Frank Phillips College 79-41 Thursday night. The road win keeps the Lady T-Birds (19-7, 10-3) in third place in the WJCAC behind leaders South Plains College (26-1, 10-1) and second place Odessa College (21-7, 10-2) with one game left in the regular season. The Lady T-Birds regular season finale is at home against Midland College. Tipoff is at 5:45 p.m.

The Lady T-Birds rode the scoring output of starters Amaya Lewis and Eliana Cabral. The former Lady Eagle scored a team high 16 points, grabbed two boards, and as assist in 40 minutes of action. Cabral scored 15 points with a rebound in 40 minutes. Starters Dawnyel Lair, Selina Dockery, and reserve player Ebony Horton all finished with eight points. Lair led the team in rebounding with seven.
