Victoria Villanueva is the National Athlete of the Week after etching her name in the record book this past weekend.

In just her second collegiate meet, the freshman posted a best of 3.86m (12-8) to place third overall in the pole vault at the Pittsburg State Invitational. She was only topped by athletes from the NCAA DI and NCAA DII level.

The mark is tops in the NJCAA this season and makes Villanueva the second best performer all-time in the event with the third best clearance in NJCAA history.

Villanueva is the third athlete picked for the national honor in New Mexico JC history.
