Gitahi and Jacobs Take Top 2 Spots at USW Invitational

The NMJC Thunderbird Cross Country team stayed in Hobbs to compete at the University of the Southwest Invitational. Unfortunately, due to injury and illness the T-Birds were unable to finish a full team.

Individually, Esther Gitahi and Teresha Jacobs took the first two spots. "These two young ladies ran very well today" said Coach Jeff Becker. "They worked together as teammates." There were spots in the race when one felt good and the other did not, but they encouraged each other and finished in front of a very strong runner from El Paso CC that was 5^th at last year's National Championships.  Also finishing in the top 5 was Cynthia Kipserem, finishing 5^th. "Cynthia ran well finishing with her best time of the year" added Coach Becker.

NEXT UP: The T-Birds will compete at the Region V Championships hosted in Levelland, TX. The meet will take place on Saturday, October 28^th.
