The NMJC Thunderbird Cross Country team opened up the 2019 season as the UNM Invitational. This meet marked the return of the men's program to NMJC. "We were very excited to have the men's team back and competing here at NMJC" commented Coach Jeff Becker

The women finished 4th as a team easily outdistancing the only other junior college at the meet. The men finished 6th just 4 points behind the other junior college team. "The ladies overall had a good first meet and beat Mesa CC the other junior college at the meet" added Coach Becker. He continued to state "We would have liked to get Mesa on the men's side, but came up just short." "We have a good men's team, but with all freshman there will be a learning curve, look for us to get better each week."
