T-Birds Stretch Win Streak to 10

The Thunderbirds won their ninth straight game 21-2 on Friday afternoon against El Paso Community College. The T-Birds recorded six doubles and scored seven runs to get things started in the top of the first inning. 

NMJC scored in every inning of the five inning game. The team finished with 21 runs, 11 doubles, and three homers on the day. This is the second time this season the Thunderbirds have scored 20 or more runs.   

EJ Miramontes went five innings allowing two earned runs on eight hits. The sophomore earned his sixth win and has a 2.70 ERA so far this season.

Third baseman Dylan Jasso was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a solo homer. The freshman scored two runs and finished with two RBIs.

Luis Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a double. The first baseman scored two runs and had six RBIs. Catcher Lorenzo Morresi was 3-for-4 with an extra-base hit, a 2-run home run, and five RBIs.

The T-Birds have won nine straight games and are 31-9 (18-3) on the season. They remain in first place in the WJCAC. 

Game 2

NMJC won the second game of their doubleheader 10-0 Friday evening against El Paso Community College. The victory gave the T-Birds their 10th straight win. 

Robert Bonilla allowed three hits and struck out five batters in a complete-game win over the Tejanos. Bonilla earned his third victory of the year and improved his ERA to 3.62.

Third baseman Dylan Jasso had a productive game from the dish going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a double, and two runs scored. Shortstop Brent Iredale also went 2-for-3 for NMJC and scored two runs.

Second baseman Aaron Lugo was 2-for-4 with an extra base hit and two RBIs. Center fielder John David Moreno went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an extra base hit. First baseman Luis Gonzalez hit a solo shot in the top of the fourth inning to give NMJC a comfortable 9-0 lead. 

The T-Birds have won 10 straight games and are 32-9 (19-3) on the season. They continue to stay atop the WJCAC standings.
