Dodge City Community College
T-Bird baseball fell to Dodge City and No. 11 Weatherford College on Friday.
Game 1
The T-Birds dropped Game 1 of their four-game series to Dodge City 16-15.
The Thunderbirds led 9-5 after five innings of play. Dodge scored 10 runs over the next three innings with NMJC only scoring four runs in that span, all in the seventh.
The Conquistadors scored one more run in the top of the ninth to hold a 16-13 advantage.
Julius Ramirez hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to pull the T-Birds within one run. A walk by Lachlan Maude and the subsequent double play ended the game in favor of Dodge City 16-15.
Second baseman Luis Urias went 2-for-4 driving in five runs. DH Julius Ramirez was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs.
Catcher Lachlan Maude walked three times and went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Third baseman Lucian Dixon was 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored.
Left fielder Jeter Battles batted 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Issei Yanagisawa was the top pitcher Friday allowing two hits and no runs in three innings of work. Ricardo Rojas earned the loss allowing three hits, and two earned runs in one inning of play.
The Thunderbirds ended Game 1 with 14 hits and three errors.
Game 2
The T-Birds fell to Weatherford College 6-2 on Friday in Game 2.
Weatherford took the 1-0 lead right out the gate in the first inning on a sac fly. The Coyotes added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to hold a 4-0 advantage after five innings.
NMJC scored their first run when Lachlan Maude drew a bases loaded walk that scored Lane Arroyos. Julius Ramirez added a run on an RBI single in the seventh to bring the score to 4-2 in favor of the Coyotes.
Weatherford added two insurance runs in the eighth and NMJC was unable to counter with any more offense as they fell 6-2.
DH Julius Ramirez went 2-for-4 with an RBI. First baseman Lane Arroyos recorded a double. Catcher Lachlan Maude registered an RBI.
Starting pitcher Donovan Becerra went five innings striking out eight while allowing four earned runs on three hits in the loss.
The Thunderbirds ended Game 2 with six hits and one error.
