T-Bird (BB) Take 2 on the Road in Snyder

NMJC swept Western Texas on the road Thursday afternoon.

Game 1

The Thunderbirds took down the Westerners 9-4 in Game 1. 

The T-Birds entered the third inning tied 1-1. An RBI double by Julius Ramirez and an RBI single by Lachlan Maude gave NMJC a 3-1 lead after three innings of play. 

NMJC added runs in the fourth and fifth to make the score 5-2. Casen Savage started the scoring rampage in the sixth with an RBI double that scored two runs. A sac fly by Jeter Battles and an RBI single by Julius Ramirez brought the Thunderbirds in front 9-2. 

The Westerners tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth and the seventh, but NMJC prevailed 9-4.

DH Julius Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs. Center fielder Casen Savage was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

First baseman Lane Arroyos was 1-for-3 with a solo homer, two walks, and three runs scored. Starting pitcher Dominick Maese pitched a complete game striking out four, while allowing three earned runs.

Game 2

NMJC came back from down four runs in the seventh inning to defeat Western Texas 14-11 in Game 2. 

The Thunderbirds jumped out to a 6-0 lead after four innings of play. Western Texas cut the deficit in half with three runs in the fifth inning to make it 6-3 T-Birds. NMJC added a run in the sixth inning that brought the score to 7-3 NMJC. 

The Westerners caught fire in the seventh inning scoring eight runs on NMJC to snatch an 11-7 lead after the seventh. The top of the eighth inning was all NMJC.

They began the inning with two singles and a triple that scored two runs. NMJC followed it up with an RBI double by Jorge De Los Santos, an RBI double by Jeter Battles, a single, and then a go-ahead 3-run homer by Julius Ramirez to make the score 14-11. Felix Rodriguez doubled in the next at bat to make it eight straight hits in the eighth inning. 

The Westerners finally got out of the inning and were unable to put any more runs across in the eighth and ninth innings as NMJC stole the win 14-11.    

Omar Reluz had a career day from the plate going 5-for-5 with a homer, a double, two RBIs and four runs scored. Third baseman Jeter Battles was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

DH Julius Ramirez went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and one run scored. Shortstop Talan Barraza was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Center fielder Cason Savage batted 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs, and two runs scored. 

Catcher Jorge De Los Santos went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs. First baseman Lane Arroyos was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
