Odessa, TEXAS (November 13, 2015)
On Friday afternoon, the New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball Team traveled to Odessa College to play the University of the Southwest JV Mustangs. The Thunderbirds cruised to victory posting a 91-49 victory over their neighbors from across the street.
Randy Haynes led all scorers, as he poured in an efficient 25 points in 18 minutes while going 8 of 11 from the field including 5 of 6 from three. Haynes was joined by El Hadjai Dieng (FA) and Xavier Jackson in double figures as they both scored 11 points. Fa Dieng posted a double-double as he grabbed a team high 11 rebounds.
Devin Wyatt turned in another stellar defensive effort as he had five blocked shots to go along with seven rebounds. The Thunderbirds forced 18 Mustang turnovers and out rebounded them 47-32.
The Thunderbirds return to Odessa on Saturday to wrap up the Odessa Classic as they play Sunrise Christian Academy out of Kansas City.
