Thunderbirds use huge second half to down Midland

Hobbs, NEW MEXICO

The New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball struggled mightily in the first half of Monday's WJCAC contest against the Midland College Chaps but found their mojo in the second half to down the Chaps 82-72.

Tyler Blount paced four Thunderbirds in double figures with 21. Emmanuel Ansah came in off the bench and posted a career high 18 and five rebounds followed by Randy Haynes and Jalin Hart with 15 and 13 points respectively.

The Thunderbirds turned a 10 point deficit with 12:36 left in the second half into a 12 point advantage with just under a minute remaining as they shot 57% from the field and knocked down 5-of-11 from behind the arc.

Up next for the Thunderbirds is the Frank Phillips Plainsmen who lost to Western Texas 73-58.  The Plainsmen are tied for third in the WJCAC right behind the Thunderbirds who own the second spot with a 5-1 record.
