Thunderbirds Come Up Short Against Buccaneers 

Sophomore guard Josh Nwankwo scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds as the T-Bird men's basketball team fell to Blinn College 74-68 on the first day of the Wrangler Shootout.

The Thunderbirds trailed at the half by five 41-36. The T-Birds had an opportunity to cut the deficit to one possession with 35 seconds remaining, but sophomore guard Cameron Kimble was unable to get the shot to fall. Kimble finished the afternoon with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Sophomore guard Logan McLaughlin scored 14 points and nabbed five rebounds on 5-of-10 shooting. Freshman center Jeremiah Cherry added 11 points and sophomore forward Lewis Rowe chipped in 12 rebounds and seven points.

The Thunderbirds shot 23-of-54 (42.6%) from the field and were 8-for-16 (50%) from the three-point line in the loss. NMJC struggled from the line going 14-for-24 (58.3%) on the day.

The T-Birds fall to 3-3 on the season. NMJC will play Utah State Eastern in the Wrangler Shootout Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. CDT in Odessa, TX.
