T-Birds Earn Needed Win Over Otero

The Thunderbirds snapped a four-game skid in the 69-57 win over the Otero Rattlers on Friday evening. 

Sophomore guard Micah Jones scored a career-high 22 points, hit four threes, and added five assists on 9-of-18 (50%) shooting in the win.    

The T-Birds were at a stalemate late in the first half clinging to a 26-25 lead with 6:00 to go. NMJC would close out the half on a 17-6 run to secure the lead going into the break at 43-31.

The Thunderbirds played comfortably in the second half with their 12-point lead, ultimately matching the Rattlers in points with 26 in the second half as they cruised to a 69-57 win over Otero.

Sophomore guard Mo Kora finished with a career-high 13 points off the bench for the T-Birds. Sophomore guard Logan McLaughlin added six rebounds and three steals in the win. Sophomore guard Cameron Kimble chipped in eight points and eight rebounds on the night.

The Thunderbirds shot 28-of-64 (43.8%) from the field and were 8-for-14 (57.1%) from the charity stripe in the win.

The T-Birds move to 4-5 on the season. NMJC will play Collin College in the Collin County Classic Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. CDT in Plano, Texas.
