Collin Inches Past the T-Birds

The NMJC men's basketball team fell in a nail-biter 61-60 to Collin College on the road in Plano, Texas.

The T-Birds got off to a great start leading the contest 36-28 at half. However, NMJC trailed by nine points 56-47 with five minutes to play in the game.  

Sophomore guard Micah Jones hit a three-pointer to pull the Thunderbirds within one point 60-61 with 46 seconds remaining. Jones would later miss a three-pointer for the win with three seconds left in the game. Jones finished the night with 16 points in the 61-60 loss to the Cougars. 

Sophomore forward Magok Manyang scored a career-high 11 points and five rebounds in the loss. Freshman guard Cameron Harris finished with 10 points off the bench and sophomore guard Cameron Kimble added eight rebounds on the night.

The Thunderbirds shot 21-of-63 (33.3%) from the field and were 11-for-37 (29.7%) from the three-point line in the loss. NMJC struggled from the free throw line going 7-for-13 (53.8).

The T-Birds fall to 4-6 on the season. NMJC will play USW JV at home Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, NM.
