T-Birds Lockdown Hobbs Foe USW (JV)

The NMJC men's basketball team easily defeated the University of the Southwest (JV) Mustangs 79-44.

The T-Birds were dominant throughout the first half versus the Mustangs. A Jeremiah Cherry dunk with 5:03 left in the half extended the lead to 19 points 31-12. Cherry finished with 12 points and eight rebounds on the night. The Thunderbirds would go on to lead at half 37-20.

Sophomore guard Mo Kora was the leading scorer on the night with a career-high 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting off the bench. Logan McLaughlin was one rebound shy of his first double-double of the season finishing with 12 points and nine rebounds in the win. 

Sophomore Cameron Kimble chipped in six rebounds and three steals on the night. 

The Thunderbirds shot 32-of-75 (42.7%) from the field and were 6-for-37 (16.2%) from the three-point line in the win. NMJC struggled from the free throw line going 9-for-16 (56.3%). Defensively the T-Birds forced 21 turnovers.

The T-Birds improve to 5-6 on the season. NMJC will take on Ranger College Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, NM.
