T-Birds MBB Eager to Begin Season

T-Birds MBB Eager to Begin Season

The New Mexico Junior College men's basketball team will play 14 non-conference games in 2023-24, including matchups with multiple national tournament qualifiers and six teams who were nationally ranked in 2022-23.

The Thunderbirds will open the regular-season schedule in Otero, Colorado against Otero on Friday, Nov. 3 before taking on Trinidad State on Saturday, Nov. 4.

NMJC swept Otero last year. Trinidad State was a national tournament qualifier after winning Region 9.

The schedule features NMJC hosting four classics with Lamar, Redlands, Phoenix College and Coastal Bend visiting on consecutive weekends in November.

That stretch is following by a three-game road trip to Texas where the T-Birds will see Collin County, Otero, and Panola College. The fall semester ends with home contests against Weatherford, Arkansas-Cossatot, and Temple, before finishing on the road at Ranger Dec. 14.

The Ranger game will be returned when the Rangers come to Hobbs on Jan. 2 to open the new year. NMJC starts WJCAC play at home against South Plains Jan. 8.
