
T-Bird (MBB) Starts Season 10-0
Redshirt sophomore guard Armon Jarrard went off against Collin College scoring a career-high 28 points as he led the T-Birds to an 86-66 victory over the Cougars.
Jarrard gave the Thunderbirds a 14-point lead at the half, 45-31, with a half-court shot that dropped as the buzzer sounded.
Collin came out of half time trying to chip away and find their back into the game. The Cougars cut into the lead in the first 10:30 of the half and were within six points, 56-50. The Thunderbirds responded with a 15-6 run making the score 71-56 with 6:00 to go in the game. The T-Birds held on the rest of the way and earned a wire-to-wire 86-66 victory over the Cougars.
Wing Isaiah Alexander finished with a career-high 19 points and eight rebounds in the win Saturday night.
Armon Jarrard went 7-of-10 from the 3-point line, which was two three balls shy of the school record. The Indianapolis, Ind. native was unstoppable finishing with 28 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Deuce Benjamin reached double figures with 10 points while guard Rodrigo Farias dished out five assists.
The T-Birds shot 31-of-62 (50.0%) from the field, 14-of-37 (37.8%) from the 3-point line, and 10-of-15 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. The Thunderbirds forced 32 turnovers and held the Cougars to 40.0% from the field and 33.3% from three-point land.
The No. 7 Thunderbirds move to 10-0 on the season and will play Dallas College Richland Monday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. CST in Dallas, Texas.
