T-Bird Golf Finishes Runner-Up in College Station

NMJC golf finished runner-up to Odessa College Tuesday, March 7 at the par–71 Golf Club @TAMU in College Station, TX. The Thunderbirds shot a 36-hole total of 564 (-4) at The Happening to fall by one stroke to the Wranglers. 

Sophomore Matthis Lefèvre led the way for the T-Birds finishing in a tie for second place. Lefèvre fired a 4-under 67 on Day 1 and an even-par 71 on Day 2 to shoot a 4-under 138 total. The Frenchman has placed in the Top 4 in seven straight tournaments and inside the Top 10 in every event this season. 

Sophomore Tim Chan finished the tournament with his second consecutive Top 4 finish. Chan was under par in both rounds after going 70-69 to finish at 3-under (139). 

Freshman Travis Robbie put together another solid performance for the Thunderbirds with an even-par tie for 14th place. The Australian finished with a two-day total of 142 (72-70). Robbie has finished inside the Top 15 in all four tournaments played so far in the spring.

Freshman Will Green posted a 3-over par 145 (73-72) over his two rounds to finish in a tie for 27th place. The Englishman was 2-under par headed into the 15th hole on Day 2 but finished bogey, bogey, bogey, par to shoot 72. Green has finished inside the Top 27 in all eight tournaments this season.

Freshman Oskar Blomdahl placed in a tie for 39th after shooting a 5-over par two-round total of 147 (74-73). Sophomore individual Carson Hackmann was one spot behind in a tie for 45th with a 6-over two-day total of 148 (76-72).

The T-Birds will travel to Andrews, Texas to play at Andrews Golf Club at the TankLogix Collegiate March 13-14. The tournament is hosted by Midland College.
