Pettersson Wins 2nd Spring Title, T-Bird (M-Golf) Places 3rd in Midland

Elias Pettersson shot 6-under at the Tanklogix & Tall City Exploration Collegiate to win his second tournament of the spring.

Pettersson finished in a tie for first with Odessa's Adam Bresnu atop the leaderboard with rounds of 66-70-68 (-6) for a 54-hole total of 204 at the par-70 Ranchland Hills GC in Midland, Texas. There was not a playoff hole to decide the sole winner, however ties for first count the same for rankings regardless of a playoff.

NMJC (-1) finished in third place with a three-round total of 839. The Thunderbirds were one stroke behind Midland (-2) and Odessa (-2). The T-Birds were just ahead of the Chaps and Wranglers with two holes to play, but disappointing finish caused them to come up one shot short.

Freshman Henry Drake shot level par (71-72-67) to finish T-11 in the tournament with a 54-hole total of 210. Drake had it rolling in the final round with seven birdies and an eagle. He went into his final two holes at 6-under par for the day. However, a bogey and a lost ball that led to a double bogey caused the Englishman to finish the day at 3-under par. The lost strokes unfortunately proved to be the difference in winning and losing the tournament.

Sophomore Travis Robbie was consistent for NMJC shooting 3-over (71-70-72) to place in a tie for 16th. The Australian shot a two-day total of 213.

Kalle Svederman had an up and down performance this week tying for 18th place. The sophomore Swede shot a 2-under 68 in Round 1, a 4-over 74 in Round 2, and a 2-over 72 in Round 3 to post a 4-over par 54-hole total of 214.

Sophomore Matt Walters rounded out the team scoring with a 5-over two-day total of 215. The South African had rounds of 70-73-72 to finish in 26th place.

Jono Boediman was the top individual for NMJC posting two rounds under par to finish in a tie for 13th. Boediman shot 1-over (68-74-69) in the tournament to record a three-round total of 211.

Mathis Perroni placed 47th overall after shooting rounds of 77-74-72. The Frenchman shot 13-over for a three-round total of 233.

Andrew Park started his tournament with a solid 1-over 71. The Australian struggled in his next two rounds going 79-75 to shoot 15-over for the tournament. The freshman came in a tie for 52nd after posting a two-day total of 235.

Giovanni Vezza had a rough go in Midland shooting 28-over par (77-77-84). The Italian finished in 63rd place with a three-round total of 238.

The T-Birds will compete next at the Big Texan March 25-26. The 54-hole tournament is hosted by UTRGV at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, Texas.
