NMJC (M-Golf) Finishes 5th at Tanklogix Collegiate

The T-Bird men's golf team (+27) finished in fifth place at TankLogix & Tall City Exploration Collegiate on Tuesday, March 18.

The Thunderbirds shot 27-over at the Quicksand GC (par-71) which was 20 shots behind the winner Midland College (+7). Odessa College's Adam Bresnu won the tournament after shooting 9-under par (71-68-65).

Elias Pettersson earned his fifth top-10 finish of the season this week in San Angelo, Texas. The sophomore finished T-9 at 2-over after posting rounds of 70-74-71. The Swede made nine birdies and two eagles over 54 holes.

Oliver Ruutu placed T-11 at Quicksand shooting 4-over par in 54 holes. The freshman recorded rounds of 71-75-71 making 10 birdies and an eagle this week. Ruutu has finished in the top 16 four times this season.

Sophomore Henry Drake had a tough first 18 holes where he shot an 8-over 79. The Englishman found his form in Round 2 shooting a 1-under 70 and in Round 3 an even-par 71. Drake ended the tournament at 7-over in a tie for 17th place.

Jake Yrene finished the TankLogix Collegiate T-36. The freshman recorded rounds of 76-79-74 to shoot 16-over for the tournament. PJ Herron was the final T-Bird member counting toward the team score as he placed T-47. Herron finished with rounds of 79-77-78 to end the 54 holes at 21-over par.  

Paul Noel had another solid performance this week as an individual for the T-Birds. The Frenchman shot 69-76-77 to finish T-23 at 9-over par. Noel joined Pettersson and Drake as the only two T-Birds to go under par this week. 

Freshman Nick Friedrichsen shot 77-73-74 over 54 holes to place T-27 at 11-over par. Alfie Mellor came in 65th place at 41-over with rounds of 88-82-84. 

The T-Birds next tournament is the Midwestern State Invite March 24-25 in Wichita Falls, Texas at Wichita Falls Country Club.
