
Thunderbird (M-Track) Qualifies 5 for Lubbock
The T-Bird men's track and field team competed Feb. 22-23 at the NMJC Indoor Qualifier in Hobbs, NM.
NMJC finished the weekend with five new qualifiers.
Sprinter Jonathon Bai nationally qualified in the 60m and 200m at Ross Black Track. Bai ran a 6.77 in the 60m which ranks No. 27 in the NJCAA. Bai finished the 200m in 21.36 to put him No. 20 in JUCO. Adolf Kauba met the national standard in the 400m with a 47.44 to rank No. 15 in the NJCAA.
Freshman hurdler Ralfs Zazerskis finished the 60mH in 8.09 on Sunday to rank No. 18 in the NJCAA. Thrower Josh Sweetnam had a great weekend in Hobbs. The South African qualified nationally in the weight throw with a 15.85m toss. The throw is No. 14 in the NJCAA. Sweetnam also set a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 16.82m (NJCAA No. 8).
The T-Birds are ranked in the top five 11 times across all events and have two relay teams ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA.

NMJC will now prepare for the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Lubbock, Texas March 7-8 at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center.
