
T-Bird (M-T&F) Sits 1st Headed into Final Day of Nationals
The T-Birds finished Day 2 of the 2025 NJCAA DI Men's Outdoor T&F Championships in first place with one national champion and four All-Americans in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Jonathan Da Silva was the top T-Bird Friday winning the decathlon title with a score of 6716 on Friday. Da Silva now has one national title under his belt and is a two-time All-American with NMJC (heptathlon, and decathlon). The first-place finish added 10 points to the T-Bird total.
Ilias Arifi was the runner-up in the decathlon with 6535 points to earn All-American distinction. The finish earned the T-Birds eight points and is his second All-American finish of his career.
Josh Sweetnam placed sixth in the shot put with an All-American performance. The freshman thrower scored three points with his mark of 16.43m.
Mawali Osunniyi ends his sophomore campaign with a sixth-place finish in the high jump. The jumper cleared 2.07m earning himself All-American status and three points.
NMJC scored 24 points during Friday's competition.
The Thunderbirds end Day 2 in first with 39 points and are one point ahead of Iowa Western and four points ahead of Indian Hills.

Day 1
The Thunderbirds finished Day 1 of the 2025 NJCAA DI Men's Outdoor T&F Championships in third place with one national champion and two All-Americans in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Samuel Ospina headlined the Thunderbirds winning the pole vault national title with a clearance of 5.06m. Ospina also won the indoor pole vault title earlier this season. He is now a two-time national champion and two-time All-American. Ospina's finish gave NMJC a big boost on the leaderboard adding 10 points to the Day 1 total.
Johnathon Rodgers finished fourth in the long jump to earn All-American status with his leap of 7.26m. Rodgers, a three-time All-American, picked up five points with the placement.
The T-Birds ended Day 1 in third place with 15 points and are seven points behind Iowa Western and 12 points back of first place Indian Hills.
