Bonnett co-champion at Ranger Rodeo
Brownwood, TEXAS
The NMJC Rodeo Team sent four rodeo student athletes qualify for the short go round at the Ranger College Rodeo in Brownwood, TX this past weekend.
Sophomore Keely Bonnett and his team roping partner Casey Tew (Header) from Weatherford College placed second on their long go steer with the time of 6.1 sec., and placed second in the short go with the time of 6.8 sec., so with the time of 12.9 sec. in the average on two steers, they became Co-Champions for the Ranger Rodeo in Team Roping, along with team from WTAMU of Schaack and Hinman.
NMJC's Cody King (Heeler) and partner Michael Benavides from SPC placed sixth in the long go round with the time of 7.2 sec. in team roping but was a NO Time in the short go. Saddle Bronc rider J.D Reed placed fourth in the long go with a score of74 points but had a No Score in the short go.
For the NMJC's Women's Team Emily Logan was the only lady making it back to the short go. She placed seventh in the long go of goat tying with the time of 7.6 sec., but had a No Time in the short go.
Next NIRA/SWR Rodeo for NMJC will be the Western Texas College Rodeo, in Snyder, TX, March 31-April 2, 2016.
