Thunderbirds dominating in 114-41 victory at Clarendon

The New Mexico Junior College Women's basketball team completely dismanteld the Clarendon College Bulldogs on their home court 114-41.

THe Thunderbirds had six players score in double figures led by Shaniya Mitchell who pumped in 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.  Nycolle Smith added 15 points and eight rebounds while Daiane Machado and Dezirae Hampton turned in identical 14 point, seven rebound efforts.  Rounding out the offensive onslaught was Ashley Perez and Blair Richmond who scored 12 and 10 points respectively.

Scoring more than 23 points in each of the four quarters, the Thunderbirds were able to control the game from the opening tip to the final horn.  The NMJC bench scored 58 of the 114 points.  As a team, they scored 68 points in the paint and grabbed 30 more rebounds than the Bulldogs (70-40).

The Thunderbirds will have Monday off before traveling to No. 10 ranked Midland College on Wednesday.  With the win, the Thunderbirds will secure their 5th consecutive WJCAC crown. Tip in Midland, Texas is scheduled for 4:45 P.M. MST.
