Lady T-Birds destroy Frank Phillips

For the second time this season, the New Mexico Junior College women's basketball team eclipsed the 100-point margin when the Ldy Thunderbirds beat Frank phillips college 101-65 Monday night.

The Lady T-Birds built up a 23-16 lead in the first quater and extended it to 50-34 at the break. Durin the third quarter, NMJC had its best offensive output, scoring three points (36) for every once (12) scored by Frank Phillips, taking a 40-point lead, 88-46, into the fourth quater.

Over the final 10 minutes, Frank Phillips outscored NMJC 19-15, but the damage was already done.

Five different Lady T-Birds scored in double figures. Deezirae Hampton led NMJC with 23 points. Alarie Mayze chipped in 12 points and Daiane Machado contributed 10. Ni'Asia McIntosh had 11, as did Laurynn McGowen whihile coming in off the bench.

With the win, NMJC imporves to 20-7 on the seaon and 9-4 in conference play. Next up for NMJC is a road trip to Big Spring, Texas on Thursday for the regular season finale.
