The NMJC women's basketball team dominated the home opener Tuesday night against the University of the Southwest (JV) winning 114-35.
The Thunderbirds finished the first half with an impressive 55-13 lead over the Mustangs.
Sophomore forward Sandra Magolico led the way for the T-Birds with 20 points shooting 10-of-13 from the field.
Sophomore guard Sydney Hobbs was 8-for-17 from the field with 18 points and six rebounds.
Sophomore guard Madina Camara finished with 12 points and nine rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting from the field.
The Thunderbirds shot 50-of-100 (50%) from the field and were 7-for-25 (28%) from the three-point line in the win. The T-Birds forced 22 turnovers but struggled from the free throw line going 7-for-16 (43.8%).
The T-Birds start the season 1-0. NMJC will play Cochise Friday, Nov. 4 at 4:30 p.m. CDT in Odessa, TX.
