T-Birds Earn Bounce Back Win

NMJC women's basketball dismantled the Bethany College Swedes 74-47 Monday afternoon. 

The Thunderbirds were able to get back in the win column after suffering their first loss of the season the game prior against Western Nebraska 63-54.

The T-Birds jumped out to a 23-point lead in the first half 42-19. NMJC was stout the entire game out-rebounding the Swedes 35-23 and forcing a whopping 32 turnovers.

Sophomore forward Mariama Sow finished with a career-high 21 points and seven rebounds on 9-of-17 shooting from the field.

Sophomore guard Sydney Hobbs finished with 17 points off the bench on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. Forward Bianca Juzzo added 10 points and four steals. Guard Delma Zita chipped in 11 points and four steals in the win over the Swedes. 

The Thunderbirds shot 33-for-70 (47.1%) from the field and 7-of-12 (58.3%) from the charity stripe.

The T-Birds improve to 7-1 on the year. NMJC will play Cisco College Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, NM.
