
NMJC Drops Ranger
Sophomore forward Danna Grenald registered her second double-double of the season with a team-high 17 points and 13 rebounds in a 75-61 win over Ranger College Monday evening.
The first quarter was competitive with NMJC clinging to a five-point lead 19-14. NMJC cruised in the second quarter holding Ranger to just 10 points as the T-Birds took a 38-24 lead into the half.
The No. 11 Thunderbirds were not threatened in the second half and finished the game with a wire-to-wire victory over the Rangers 75-61.
Sophomore forward Bianca Juzzo scored 15 points, notched four rebounds, and added three assists in the win.
Guard Delma Zita had an all-around solid performance with nine points, six assists, and five rebounds. Sydney Hobbs led the T-Birds in scoring off the bench with nine points on the evening.
The Thunderbirds shot 30-of-73 (41.1%) from the field but struggled from beyond the arc going 1-for-13 (7.7%) in the win. The T-Birds forced 12 turnovers and out-rebounded the Rangers 50-20. The Thunderbirds move to 11-2 on the year.
NMJC will play Odessa College Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, NM.
