Thunderbirds Throttle Grayson in Round 1

Four of the five starters for the T-Birds were in double figures in their 76-49 throttling of the Grayson College Vikings. 

Delma Zita was a swiss army knife for the Thunderbirds scoring 13 points, while adding four assists, three steals, and three rebounds.

The T-Birds led by six points at the conclusion of the first quarter, 17-11. The Thunderbirds outscored the Vikings 16-7 to take a commanding 33-18 lead into half. NMJC did not look back, outscoring Grayson 43-31 in the second half to win by 27 points 76-49. 

Forward Danna Grenald had a solid game for the T-Birds with 15 points and six rebounds. Forward Sandra Magolico finished with nine points and seven rebounds. Mariama Sow added eight points and seven rebounds. 

Madina Camara finished the afternoon with 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Guard Bianca Juzzo chipped in 11 points and five rebounds.

The T-Birds shot 34-of-65 (37.3%) from the field, 1-for-5 (20%) from the three-point line, and  7-of-13 (53.8%) from the charity stripe.

NMJC improves to 23-5 overall and will face 29-1 Collin College in the semifinals of the Region V Tournament Friday, March 10 at 5 p.m. CDT.
