T-Bird (W-Golf) Starts 2024-25 Season
The NMJC women's golf team begins their 2024-25 season Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the USW Fall Invitational in Hobbs, NM. The tournament, which is held at Rockwind Community Links, has moved to a one day 36-hole tournament set to begin at 8 a.m. MDT.
The T-Birds return seven members of the inaugural 2023-24 team and will have all six athletes that competed at the 2024 NJCAA National Championship on this year's team.
The Thunderbirds will be led by sophomores Nanami Hayakawa, Hinano Kishida, Wawa Booncharn, Olivia Heard, Kyleigh McGowen, Ashleigh Johnson, and Kiyonna Matthews.
Hayakawa and Kishida headline the returning roster for NMJC. Hayakawa was an Honorable Mention All-American with a T-15 finish in Florida at the national championship and Kishida was also an Honorable Mention All-American with T-17 finish.
The Thunderbirds bring into the fold four freshmen in the fall representing two countries and one state.
Giuliana Frutos of Paraguay is the first South American on the squad and she is joined by fellow international Stefany Crozier of England. Crozier joins fellow Englishwoman Olivia Heard on the 2024-25 roster. The other freshman duo features two Texans Jordyn Cruz of Odessa, Texas and Zoe Munoz of El Paso, Texas.
The T-Birds are looking to build off their first-season success where NMJC won three times as a team, six times individually, and finished in the top-3 11 out of 14 tournaments.
The Thunderbirds are eyeing an improvement on their second-place finish at the 2023 USW Fall Invite Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 8 a.m. MDT.
