T-Bird (W-Golf) Enters Final Round of Nationals in 4th Place

The T-Bird women's golf team climbed up one spot in Round 3 to fourth place as they enter the final round of the 2025 NJCAA DI Women's Golf Championship. 

NMJC moves to 60-over for the week after shooting a 20-over team total of 308 on Day 3. 

No. 2 Odessa College leads at 19-over par for the tournament. No. 3 Seminole State is in second place at 26-over. No. 1 Daytona State is 43-over and in third place.

Napajira Nami Luesattha of Odessa College extended her individual lead to 5-under after shooting 3-under in Round 3. She leads second by eight shots and is the only golfer under par for the week. 

Olivia Heard leads the T-Birds individually at T-15 after a Round 3 score of 7-over 79. The sophomore had a tough front nine where she recorded a birdie, two pars, and six bogeys to go out in 41. 

Heard was better back nine with one double on hole 12, a bogey on hole 14, and a birdie on 15 with the rest being pars as she shot 2-over on the back. Heard through three rounds has shot 78-71-79. 

Hinano Kishida was the tale of two nines on Wednesday as she sits tied for 25th at 15-over following a Round 3 score of 81. Kishida was on fire during the front nine making birdies on holes 3-4 and hole 7 and hole 9 to go out in 4-under.

The back nine was a different story. The sophomore opened triple-par and then went double-triple-triple-bogey-bogey over her next five holes. Kishida finished with two pars to shoot a 13-over 49. Kishida through three rounds has shot 74-76-81.    

Nanami Hayakawa is tied for 33rd place at 18-over par following her 5-over 77 in Round 3. The sophomore's  front was difficult as she made three bogeys, a double, and five pars to go out in 41 at 5-over. Hayakawa went 2-over from holes 10-13 before making back-to-back birdies on holes 14-15. The Okaya Nagano, Japan native finished her second nine at even to post 5-over. Hayakawa through three rounds has shot 83-75-77.  

Giuliana Frutos' best showing of the week came on Wednesday with her 4-over 76 to move into T-41 at 21-over for the tournament. Frutos had a fabulous front nine making a bogey on hole 2 and bridies on holes 7-8 to post a 1-under 35. The back was more of a grind. Frutos started with a double on 10 and then bogeys on hole 12, hole 15, and hole 18 had her close with a 5-over 41 to finish at 4-over. Frutos through three rounds has shot 80-81-77

Wawa Booncharn turned it around in Round 3 with her 4-over 76. Booncharn climbed 14 individual spots into a tie for 44th place at 24-over. The sophomore had a colorful card in her opening nine recording three bogeys, a double, a birdie and four pars to shoot a 4-over 40. Booncharn bogeyed hole 10 but birdied 11, 13, and 14 to move to 2-under on the back. Bogeys on 15 and 17 dropped her back to even on the back nine as she closed with a 36 to shoot a 4-over 76. The Bangkok, Thailand native has shot 84-80-76 through three rounds.

Tee times for Round 4 are as follows, Wawa Booncharn will tee off on hole 1 at 10:20 a.m CDT, Giuliana Frutos at 10:30 a.m. CDT, Nanami Hayakawa at 10:40 a.m. CDT, Hinano Kishida at 10:50 a.m. CDT, and Olivia Heard at 11 a.m CDT.
