Indoor Track adds six new qualifiers for National Championships
Albuquerque, NEW MEXICO
The New Mexico Junior College indoor track & field team had another good showing, this time at the UNM Classic turning in six new NJCAA National Indoor Track & Field qualifying marks and improving on 11 other qualifying marks.
The six new marks included Kamira Franklin (60m), Kayelle Clarke (400m), Abbigale Butler (600m), and Silvia Sosa and Ja'Ianna Williams (800M). on the track. In the field events, Tamara Moncrieffe punched her ticket in the long jump.
Two of the eleven marks that were improved included new school records by Moncrieffe in the Triple Jump with a leap of 18'3"and the 400m relay team of Jahneya Mitchell (56.8), Quadaisha Newkirk (54.6), Kamira Franklin (57.0) and Christine Moss (54.7) for a time of 3:43.59.
The Thunderbirds will again travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 12-13 for the Don Kirby Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico.
