T-Birds Win at Western Texas Meet; Place Top 4 in the Top 7
The NMJC Thunderbird Cross Country placed four runners in the top seven to come away with a close victory at the Western Texas College Meet. "We ran well" commented Coach Jeff Becker, "but so did South Plains". "We were fortunate to come away with the team win, but it will be fun to battle them all season long".
Individually the team was led by a strong showing from the top four runners. "Placing four in the top seven in any meet is great". Esther Gitahi and Teresha Jacobs went 1-2 and Sharon Jerono was 6th, but probably the most impressive individual finish was Cynthia Kipserem. "Cynthia finished 7th and really helped the team today. Her workouts have been great and she is getting better and better."
NEXT UP: The T-Birds will host the NMJC Invitational on Friday, September 29th at Harry McAdams Park here in Hobbs.
