
Mrabet Finishes 10th, T-Bird (WXC) Places 3rd in Lubbock
Freshman runner Ines Mrabet was the top performer for the women's cross country team on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Texas Tech Invitational 6k.
The T-Birds finished in third place in Lubbock, Texas with 95 points at the meet behind second place West Texas A&M (41 points) and first place Texas Tech (37 points). NMJC finished ahead of DI UTEP by 28 points.
Mrabet, who favors the longer courses compared to the standard 5k, came in 10th place with a time of 23:08.50. The race was the first time she was able to place in front of her teammate Amal Kachouri.
The freshman Kachouri finished a spot behind Mrabet in 11th place with a time of 23:11.00. Francesca Alvarado was the third runner across the line for NMJC in 27th place with a time of 24:22.80.
Sophomore Jayne Elvin came in 29th place with a time of 24:52.40. Lisel Ndlovu rounded out the team score with a finish of 25:13.90 placing 36th overall in Lubbock, Texas.
Emilly Silva placed 38th finishing in 25:16.40. Hadil Chiha came in 48th place with a time of 25:47.30. Tyfane Martins was a few spots behind in 51st place 25:54.70. Jody Ann Mitchell crossed the finish line in 26:13.60 coming in 58th place. Daphne Kausz was the final runner at the meet finishing in 65th place with a time of 26:29.40.
The T-Birds will be in familiar territory next week when they compete in their first home meet of the season Friday, Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. MDT in Hobbs, NM at Harry McAdams Park.
